My name is Sarah and I established Wickham's Civil Ceremonies in 2012, training as Celebrant with the Association of Independent Celebrants (AOIC). This was following my work within the bereavement sector as I liked the way it offered families the chance to celebrate the life of their loved one, while also being able to say goodbye in their own way.
I wanted to offer families a service which reflected their loved one and could be peaceful or celebratory, could still include a religious element if the family wished, but would be focused around their loved one, the life they lived and their beliefs, so it really was a celebration of their life.
However becoming a celebrant also meant that I had the opportunity to help couples celebrate their love and their life together, and new parents welcome and name their new arrivals with ceremonies that were unique and personal to them. Being to help a couple create their perfect day is such an honour, while as a mum I know how much a new arrival means and how important it is to welcome and share that that special little person with family and friends.
I have always liked the freedom a celebrant ceremony offers because there are no legal restrictions and ceremonies can be performed in any location, indoors or outdoors, at a venue or at a family home, and at any time. It can include aspects that are truly personal to a loved one, baby or couple, can be as simple or extravagant as you want it to be, have a unique twist or be very traditional. Its your choice and if I can help someone make a memory that is unique to them, and gives them the perfect day which they will always remember with a smile, including the perfect send off which is very important when saying farewell to someone you love, that is is why I became a celebrant. At the end of the day, it's 'your ceremony’ so should be ‘your way’.
It's important that you feel comfortable with your celebrant and I am always happy to meet or speak to families and couples before booking a ceremony so they can get to know me and how I can help. As a celebrant I meet my families and couples and write and conduct ceremonies myself so that they know me personally and that I am going to be there throughout, helping them to create their ceremony as well as being there on the day .
If you have been thinking about a ceremony and would like to meet or have a chat over the phone or Skype, or would just like a bit more information about a ceremony please don't hesitate to get in touch.
I am based in Wales in Haverfordwest and travel across Pembrokeshire and South West Wales , but am happy to travel further.
