Funerals Celebrating the Life of Your Loved One

Interment of Ashes or Scattering of Ashes
'A funeral doesn't just recognise that a life has ended, it recognises that a life was lived'.
Saying goodbye to your loved one is never easy, so it’s important that you can celebrate their life in the right way. As an independent civil celebrant I can create with you a very personal service that reflects your loved one, their life and beliefs, while also giving you the chance to say goodbye in that way that you want. Whether this is a Cremation, Burial, Memorial Service, or an Interment or Scattering of Ashes, we can make sure your loved one gets the send off that they deserve, celebrating the life they lived.
Because your service is tailored to your loved one and their beliefs, you decide what you would like to include. If you wish you can include a religious element such as a hymn, or a prayer if you feel that is something your loved one would have wanted, or if this is something that is important to a family member, while also keeping the focus of the service about your loved one and the life they lived.
You can also have a fully non religious service it is your choice and something I would discuss with you. You may also decide the perfect ceremony for your loved one is simple with no fuss, where you can just send them off with your love, remembering a few of you own memories and this is perfectly acceptable as well.
You may wish to include something that has a special meaning, which could be a favourite sweet or flower, or even something your loved one made themselves like a painting. While you can also include something for people to remember your loved one, for example seed card’s, that can grow each year, a special pin for a charity that they supported, pack of chocolate buttons or even a bowl of quality street on the way out if that is what they loved.
You may want to have a moment to give all the family a chance to say goodbye and there are many ways we can do this, for example a candle lighting ceremony, placing your own special message, or releasing a balloon, and even if a family member cannot be with us you can include them in the service. If you have your own idea of how you can really celebrate your loved one's life we can make it happen, whether it's a special piece of music, a friend leading the hearse in the original only fools and horses three wheeler, or wine gums at the graveside.
Your loved ones service will be completely focused around them and the life they lived, celebrating who they were and what they mean to you, and it can be as peaceful or celebratory as you want it to be.
I would be there to help through this difficult period and can offer suggestions and ideas, but would come and meet you personally so that you can tell me about your loved, one and the life they lived so that I can create a ceremony with you that reflects your loved one and celebrate their life in the way they would have wanted, so it truly is...
'Your Ceremony, Your Way’
“We had Sarah to help us with a memorial service to celebrate our mums life. Sarah is such a lovely, caring person helping and guiding us through such a difficult time. She offered advice and ideas to make sure mums send off was a fitting tribute and celebration of mums life. Thanks again Sarah we will be forever grateful for your kindness and support.”
“I would just like to thank you from myself and my family for the excellent service you gave for Helens funeral. You portrayed her as exactly the type of person she was, everyone has commented on what a lovely service it was and what a lovely person you are and said that it was exactly what Helen would have wanted. You helped make saying goodbye to the person we loved most in this world a bit easier and made everyone remember her for the best and for that we will be forever grateful. So thank you again from all of us.”
